Liza Gareau Tosh
Liza Gareau Tosh sees many things as visually intriguing. So much so that painting and drawing her surroundings have been a constant from her roots on a French-Canadian and Métis part of the prairies to her now established home in Fernie, British Columbia. The subject matter of her paintings embrace defiance — that is she interprets nature lovingly, but studies it with an unconventional eye. Liza’s still life paintings manifest as food propelled from the earth. However, their objects of interest become the bulk in leaves or the heft of vines, rather than the traditional subject matter of the fruit itself. Liza feels fortunate to be from a place that provides such a visual feast.
