Christine Code
I am a full-time artist born, raised, and currently residing in small town Eston, Saskatchewan. My first love is the landscape and Saskatchewan’s Living Skies is a common theme in my paintings. I like to explore other subjects as well and aim to convey a particular mood or atmosphere in each piece through interesting brushwork and impasto palette knife passages. I enjoy the alla prima method and the techniques of traditional impressionism and tonalism with a modern flair.
As a prolific daily painter, I have works held in private collections in Canada, the United States, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Italy, and the United Kingdom. I have received several online awards and have participated in a variety of solo and group shows locally, as well as international exhibitions.
A naturalist at heart, I am an avid gardener and bird watcher.
My husband, Travis, is a woodworker and my personal framer. His frames are handcrafted out of solid wood and custom to each individual painting. No stain or paint - the specialty wood species is carefully selected to compliment the painting with a clearcoat varnish to preserve the wood's natural colour. We have enjoyed this collaboration- the natural wood frames combined with my paintings of the natural environment - creates a complete, synergistic work of art.
