Christine Code
Moody, atmospheric, a sense of time and place. As a prolific daily painter, Christine has works held in private collections in Canada, the United States, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Italy, and the United Kingdom. She has received several awards and has participated in a variety of solo and group shows locally and internationally. “I live in small town Eston, Saskatchewan where I can see the horizon for miles. Saskatchewan’s Living Skies are a common theme in my paintings. I like to explore other subjects as well and aim to convey a particular mood or atmosphere in each piece through interesting brushwork and impasto palette knife passages. I enjoy the alla prima method and the techniques of traditional impressionism and tonalism with a modern flair.A naturalist at heart, I am an avid gardener and bird watcher. My husband, Travis, is a woodworker and my personal framer. His frames are handcrafted out of solid wood and custom to each individual painting. No stain or paint - the specialty wood species is carefully selected to compliment the painting with a clearcoat varnish to preserve the wood's natural colour. We have enjoyed this collaboration- the natural wood frames combined with my paintings of the natural environment - creates a complete, synergistic work of art.”
