Richmond Ametefe
Richmond is a self-taught charcoal artist, renowned for his captivating explorations of the human connection with nature. Since 2019, Richmond has honed his craft in charcoal, crafting evocative pieces that delve into the intricate relationship between mankind and the natural world.
With a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana, Richmond's academic background enriches his artistic perspective, infusing his work with a profound understanding of environmental dynamics.
Prior to dedicating himself fully to his artistic pursuits, Richmond served as a research assistant on the Climate and Ecosystem Change Adaptability and Resilience (CECAR-Africa) project, delving deep into issues of climate resilience and ecosystem management. Additionally, he lent his expertise as a GIS Analyst at MapHouse Ghana Limited, furthering his understanding of spatial data and its applications.
In 2015, Richmond's commitment to environmental stewardship was recognized with the prestigious UNESCO (Man and the Biosphere) Young Scientist Award. His groundbreaking research on water resource management in the Songor Biosphere Reserve ignited his passion for nature conservation and laid the foundation for his artistic journey.
