This work from the Tenants series explores the gap between how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. Inés, in an elegant room, dressed with quiet sophistication, appears composed at first glance. Yet, subtle dissonances emerge: the room’s details feel slightly unkempt, and her own expression hints at uncertainty.
The mirror reflects a version of her that is just slightly “off”,reminding us that reflections, like self-perceptions, are never entirely truthful. We carry private narratives, insecurities, and histories that shape how we believe we appear, even when others perceive something entirely different.
This tenant’s space becomes a metaphor for self-image, sometimes polished on the surface, often imperfect beneath, layered with both grace and vulnerability. I hope you look at this piece and consider the distortions in their own reflections, and how little those distortions reveal about the whole truth of who we are.
